The Ultimate Lazy Girl’s Guide to Non-Toxic Swaps

I love the idea of living a non-toxic lifestyle. And sure occasionally making my own stuff can be kinda fun.
But let’s be real, sometimes you just need the lazy way. Because between kids, laundry, and trying to remember if I drank water today… I’m not out here brewing my own shampoo… yet.
If you’re into cleaner living without the overwhelm, you’re in the right place. These are the non-toxic swaps that are actually easy and lazy girl approved.
Why Go Non-Toxic?
Our bodies deal with a lot these days. Toxins in our food, skincare, cleaning stuff, it’s kinda everywhere.
It’s called toxic overload, and it can totally mess with your energy, hormones and mood. But don’t freak out, this isn’t about being perfect.
Every little swap helps. Seriously. Even one small change gives your body a break.
So, if the only non-toxic thing you use right now is your deodorant? You’re already doing something, and that counts.
My Favorite Lazy Girl Swaps

1. Scented Candles ⟶ Diffusers + Essential Oils
I LOVE a cozy-smelling house as much as anyone, but most candles are full of synthetic fragrance (aka headaches in a jar).
Swapping to a diffuser with essential oils gives me the cozy vibes without the toxin cloud.
Plus, you can change the scent with your mood. Girl math.
2. Dryer Sheets ⟶ Wool Dryer Balls
Dryer sheets are super sneaky. They seem completely harmless but are loaded with synthetic fragrance and questionable chemicals.
Wools balls do the job just as well (if not better), and they last forever.
3. Plastic Food Containers ⟶ Glass
I didn’t toss all my plastic overnight, I’m not out here trying to give myself a meltdown.
But every time one cracked or stained, or I just found some extra wiggle room in my budget, I replaced it with glass.
Now I feel 10% more like I have my life together every time I open the fridge.

4. Drugstore Deodorant ⟶ A Clean Option
I was loyal to the $3 stuff for way too long because it worked, but then I realized it was packed with aluminum, fragrance, and plenty of ingredients I couldn’t even pronounce.
Yes, I’ve tried the “clean” ones that had me questioning all my life choices by 10 AM.
But I finally found a non-toxic deodorant that doesn’t cost $20 and actually holds up through mom life, workouts, and weirdly stressful grocery runs.
5. Fragrance-Heavy Lotions ⟶ Tallow
I know we all love to smell like a delicious cupcake or beautiful rose, but unfortunately, your favorite store-bought lotions are packed of chemicals that can really mess with your hormones.
Swapping to something like tallow or shea butter can be a game-changer for your hormones and your skin. You don’t have to make them yourself, lots of brands are coming out with high-quality and affordable options.
Bonus tip: if you miss your scents, you can add a few essential oils and it gives you a wonderful natural fragrance!
6. Regular Non-Stick Pans ⟶ Cast Iron or Stainless Steel
I’m not telling you to overhaul your whole kitchen. Just replace your one most-used pan with something safer.
Cast iron sounds intense, but honestly? You wipe it out and you’re done.
7. Regular Pads and Tampons ⟶ Organic Cotton
Most mainstream period products are bleached and full of stuff you probably don’t want near your lady parts.
Organic cotton is gentler, non-toxic, and just feels better.
You don’t have to switch everything; just swapping your daily liner or overnight pad is a great start.
From One Lazy Girl To Another

You don’t need to flip your whole life upside down to start living a little cleaner. Honestly, that’s not realistic for most of us, and definitely not for me.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about progress. One lazy swap at a time.
So if you’re doing any of these? I’m proud of you. If you’re thinking about doing one soon? Still proud of you.
And if you’re just here for ideas to pin and forget about for 3 months? Girl, same.
They’ll be here when you’re ready.
